This pattern lets you crochet a necktie.
It can be used for casual fashion, to add a little warmth on cooler days, or as a handmade gift.
The width is adjusted in different sections, similar to a real tie, to reduce bulk around the neck.
The fabric is not too thick, and the stitches are unlikely to curl or twist.
The pattern is made up of small stitch units, so it’s easy to adjust the stitch count if your gauge differs.
It’s also easy to modify the placement of length and width changes.
If you have a tie you’d like to use as a reference, you can compare its shape while crocheting to guide your work.

For the sample pieces, I tried crocheting with both summer and winter yarns.
I enjoyed seeing how both wool and cotton-linen show their own textures.
I wonder if you can get a sense of the different textures from the photos.
The green piece was made with Daruma Trad Cotton Linen Blend using a 2.3 mm hook.
The stitch pattern shows up clearly, giving the tie a crisp, well-defined shape.
The navy piece was made with Puppy British Fine using a 2.50 mm hook.
It has a soft heathered tone. With such a wide range of colors available, choosing your favorite is part of the fun.
You might want to play with stripes or two-tone designs, or experiment with colors.
Even playful, pop color combinations could feel fresh and exciting.

The crochet itself is not particularly adventurous, and there are many parts you can work on without constantly referring to the chart.
Because it’s a compact piece, it’s perfect for crocheting on the go.
If you set it aside, there’s a chance it might sit unfinished for a while without you noticing. But if you can dedicate a block of time and work on it in one go, you’ll see clear progress, and you might even enjoy the momentum.
Once it’s finished, you might find yourself wanting to try it in a different color.
Feel free to choose your favorite yarn and make it for the season you’d like to gift it or the season you’d like to wear it.
