A crochet photo frame pattern.
The pattern features two types of frames: Frame A, which has a wavy scalloped border, and Frame B, which has a simple, seamless border design.
This design was previously available as a kit. Because the original kit used two strands of yarn in different colors held together, the pattern's yarn information was previously limited to weight and grams. To make the instructions clearer, I have re-crocheted the pieces using currently available yarns and refreshed the pattern accordingly.
For your reference, the weight and yardage for the original version using two strands are still listed in the detailed information section at the bottom of this page.
This project can be completed using only basic crochet techniques. It requires very little yarn and can be finished in a short amount of time.
The design of the hanging loop has been thoughtfully devised for ease of crocheting. Please refer to the images below to see the appearance of the back side.
The new sample pieces are made using Manila Hemp Yarn from Marchen Art. Frame A uses "512 Cafe au Lait," and Frame B uses "543 Binrou."
Finally, lightly steaming the finished piece with a steam iron (holding it slightly above the fabric) will help the stitches settle for a beautiful finish.
It can also be fun to create different sizes by changing the yarn weight. This is an excellent project for utilizing your leftover yarn.
