Japanese Crochet Pattern: Geometric Motif Throw (Chart Included)

This is a blanket made by joining 48 crochet motifs.

Since each motif is large and the number of pieces is small,  so I was able to complete it smoothly even though I usually do not crochet with many motifs.

The motif is made of single crochet, so it is a solid crocheted fabric and a very warm blanket.

I was crocheting while imagining that it would be good to use it at an autumn camp, but it ended up with an atmosphere that blends in with the room.

The point is the slightly unusual triangular motif and the sharp geometric pattern.

I also like that it has a somewhat architectural feel to it, maybe a Scandinavian style.


It is very easy to crochet each motif.

Since only the basic method of crochet is used, even beginners can do it.

It may be a little unfamiliar to join the motifs, so I have prepared an explanation video.I can't explain this joint with just a chart, so I hope you can refer to the video as well.

It's also a good idea to think about where and how many of these two-color motifs you want to put in!

The pattern includes a page called "Color Matching Palette" where you can paint and examine the color scheme and write the position of the two-color motif. Please print the page and use it.

For the blanket in the image, I used 100% wool Icelandic yarn "Lettlopi".

6 reddish brown, 6 golden brown, 4 gray, 16 balls in total.
With this amount of yarn, the finished size is 29.5 inches long and 59 inches wide (75 cm long and 150 cm wide).
In my case, it was just right to crochet 3 motifs with 1 ball.

If you have a scale, before cutting the yarn after crocheting one piece, measure how many grams it will be, and use it as a guide to how many rounds you need to crochet to cut the yarn and use it well.

This is because if the motif is finished with an even number of rounds, it is OK to change the number of rounds.

Once you have decided on the number of rounds, please unify all the motifs to that number of rounds and increase the production of motifs.
