I crocheted the hina dolls.

The hishimochi is a storage box, so you can put it away as soon as the festival is over.

The height of the hishimochi is about the same as the height of the hina dolls, so if you put the hishimochi in the background, you can create a background with a lot of Hinamatsuri feeling.

To tell the truth, this hishimochi box was not easy, so I went through a lot of trial and error, but don't worry, it's based on single crochet, and there are no complicated techniques.

Hishimochi is a work that requires a steam iron because the crocheted fabric swells during crocheting.

The crocheted fabric will settle when the steam iron is floated and the steam is applied.

Crochet Hinamatsuri Hina dolls

I think this is a work where the coloring of the yarn is quite effective.

As soon as I decided to crochet this, I went to a craft store and looked for yarn while comparing colors.

I wondered if I could find a lot of pink and greenery wool, and it was surprisingly small.

And I found these three colors in Puppy's British Fine yarn, which I love and use often!

The color of hishimochi looks very delicious, and the green color is especially cute with a rustic texture that looks like mugwort.

Using the same British fine, I tried to make a prototype with an orthodox Hina doll color.

If you only crochet the hina dolls, this color combination will also create an atmosphere.

The crochet method is the same, so I'll post it below as a reference work.

In the chart, the yarn used for the Hishimochi color is listed, but the color number used for the Hina doll color is also listed at the bottom of the page.

Crochet Hinamatsuri Hina dolls

The hina dolls are stuffed with polycotton, but I think you can use leftover wool instead of polycotton.

It's palm-sized and compact, so if you're only making hina dolls, you can complete it in a short time.

How about a springtime decoration in a corner of your room?
It's nice to crochet carefully and decorate it every year.

Wami's "Hishimochi and hina dolls"

Since I finished this after this year’s Hina Matsuri, I thought it was out of season and hesitated to post, but when I learned about the renewal of the “Community Gallery” section, I decided to share it.
It’s palm-sized, the little hina dolls are so cute!
I followed the recipe for the hishi-mochi yarn, and I really liked the colors. For the outfits, I changed them to my preferred green and red tones.
For the shaku and hi-ōgi, I left the yarn a bit long and added small pink beads to the gold disc beads typically used in craft projects to create hair ornaments for the empress doll.
It took some time, but I’m happy with how it turned out.
I also love the idea that the hishi-mochi can be stored inside!
Thank you for the wonderful pattern!

I wanted to display it in a slightly larger size, so I crocheted it using thicker yarn.
The hina dolls ended up a bit round, and I couldn't quite achieve the firmness I wanted for the hishi-mochi, so I feel I didn't fully bring out their cuteness, which is a bit disappointing. Still, I'm glad it came together in the end.
I made a few small arrangements to the accessories. Since it was finished in time for Hina Matsuri, I'm already displaying it.
