A Crochet Eye Mask for Your Travels

I crocheted an eye mask with ear loops.

It slips on and off just like a face mask, making it quick and easy to use. Once I tried it, I really liked how easy it was to put on and take off.

Since eye masks aren't something we use very often in our daily lives, having one can make travel feel a little more special.
 I think it would be exciting to add it to your packing list when getting ready for a trip.

The Yarn Used for This Project

For this project, I used “Candy,” a yarn that was kindly provided to me by sawada itto some time ago.
It’s such a lovely yarn, with soft colors and a fluffy, cozy texture.

When I first got this yarn, an eye mask naturally came to mind.
At the time, though, I wasn’t sure what to do about the straps, so I left the project unfinished and moved on to other projects.

When the season came around when I started feeling like traveling, I found myself wanting to crochet the eye mask again—and this time, I finally finished it!

Inspired by an idea from my daughter for an “ear-loop style,” I was able to arrive at the shape that worked best.

For this project, I used Sesame, the darker shade shown in the photos, and Coconut, the creamy shade used for the eye mask.
I also love that the colors are named after foods—the names are such a perfect match for the colors, which makes this yarn even more charming.
The yarn comes in six colors, so making one in a different color for each person could make a trip even more fun!

The subtle mix of colors, along with the neps and slubs scattered throughout the yarn, gives this simple project plenty of texture and character.

Crochet Techniques Used in This Pattern

This pattern uses basic crochet techniques as its foundation.
I’ve prepared video tutorials for the key parts of the pattern, so you can follow along with confidence.

There are two sizes.
The difference between them is not very large, but the pattern includes both a regular size and a smaller size.

The ear loops are easy to adjust in length, so feel free to customize them for a comfortable fit.
